Angelique

Saying my guest has talents would be like saying the sky is blue. Many will remember her from the cast of "FAME". But that's not why she's here...

This is all about music, And what music at that!

Her voice has grabbed my soul!

So here for my pleasure and your's is Angelique!
Welcome to the zine, how are you?

Merci Claude, I am well

I have just listened to your self title CD, How long did you work on it?

From the time I actually wrote the songs until final mastering was about one year.

These song meshes so well. What made you decide on these songs in particular?

The main reason for doing the CD project was I wanted to do songs that I liked, that were a window into some of life's lessons I've learned, that were indicative of the many styles of music that I feel influenced by and lastly to demonstrate that music fans will listen to and buy multi-formatted music from a single artist on a single CD.

What is the number one quality you look for or expect in people you work with?

There are many: I enjoy working with people who are focused and love making music, have a strong work ethic and of course, talent.

The website has your bio and it is an interesting one(Make sure to visit at the link below) However I am curious to find out what is your favorite reading material? What book are you reading these days?

What a great question!!! I really enjoy reading biographies - from Marie Antointette to Mark Mathabane. I am currently reading two (!) books: The Remnant by Lahaye & Jenkins and Take Me To The River by Al Green

What is the first concert you attended?

My first concert was with my mom, she dragged me kicking and screaming to see "oldies group" Gladys Knight and the Pips. I had the absolute best time and couldn't wait to see them again. (I've seen them/her many times since and know the words to most of the songs!!!)

What is the most difficult part of creating?

That too is an excellent question. While songwriting comes relatively easy for me, it is difficult to be creative "on demand" i.e., when I'm under pressure to write a song and not particularly inspired. In addition I would say it is sometimes difficult translating your "creative vision" so others (musicians, singers, sound engineers, dancers) can understand and accurately interpret your desires.

Do you have a "routine" prior to a live show?

Yes. I make sure I get lots of rest the night before and if I can, work out at the gym early in the day. I also do a mental and vocal rehearsal and work out any "bumps" or new vocal "tricks" to determine what changes I will use during the show. On the way to the show I again vocally warm-up and at the venue I find a quiet spot to check out the crowd and once again go over the show in my head.

What is your favorite place whether you've been there or not?

My favorite place is Giverny in France but if any one were to give me a little cottage in the south of France I would take it :).

What is Angelique's next challenge?

Wow!!! My most immediate challenge is to find an investor/corporate sponsor to assist in tour support. I absolutely love playing live and would like to be able to bring my excellent band on tour and perform in some of the large festivals in front of lots of people.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions

Thank you so much for inviting me. Your support is truly appreciated.

Any parting words for our readers?

I would say follow your muse because this life is a journey that should be savored, nurtured and enjoyed. There will be bumps and disappointments along the way, but don't let the bad define or reflect who you are or aspire to be.
