If you like your rock hard and loud then these guys are it!
Welkomen! How are you guys doing?
Weīre pretty normal guys. Sasch, our singer and organ-player is 28, proud father of two sons, Benjamin and Luca, Truck -Driver, likes old cars, old hammond-organs. He plays the piano since heīs been twelve years old
Karre, our drummer is 35, also proud father of the little Samson, works at a car factory and likes riding old motorbikes (heīs got three of these old kawasaki things and one really old russian ural...noisy guy...), been playing drums since the age of nine.
Sven, the bass player is 23, works at a local bank. Heīs very calm and pleasant, you know those guys which are loved by every mother-in-law (...not that he had one but...who knows) plays the bass since the tender age of 20.
and Tobi the guitar player is 24, student of computer science, playing guitar for 9 years. He and his girlfriend love snowboarding.
Heīs doing that job now for nearly 25 years and he is a very passionate guy, therefore his playing-style is designed to make drums sound like drums by hitting them hard and with his own passion. His style is the heart of Daisy Duke. Btw he plays an old Rogers drum-kit (the same as the drummer of Spinal Tap hehe) and that thing sounds like hell.
Your band is really tight! Do you guys practice a lot? and where?
Due to our restrictions (job, family, studies, even the laws in germany (noise reduction after 10PM)) we only practice once a week, saturdays from 5 PM to 10PM, in an old beautiful school-house near munich (maybe 100 years old ) But itīs always fun and we think it reflects in our songs. Itīs like letting go all the stress and tension, just making music.
Tobi does an amazing intro on the cover song "Dead City"
How long has he been playing?
Tobi: I knew that question would come hehe... btw, I personly donīt think itīs so amazing but the others wanted me to play a sort of kick-ass solo part for the demo. So I got myself together (what was left after three german beers, thatīs why I call it the 3beer-solo :o) and played. If you would ask me to play the same thing again...no way I donīt even remember it.
What Is the philosophy of Daisy Duke?
We want to make a nice show, we want to please the audience. Often, musiciansī egos get so big that they think first of all they have to please themself, that may be right, but then you donīt have to bother people with your stuff. We definetly want the people to enjoy the party and leave happily. Thatīs 99% of the thing. The one percent thatīs left are the goose-bumps you get when that feeling comes up every performing artist has from time to time. That feeling that keeps you in business whether if youīre jamming in the rehearsal room or youīre performing for the audience.
What is the hardest part of creating for you?
To get four different meanings to one point.
What is the latest project you are involved in?
Right at the time nothing special just jamming and drinking beer. Doing some covers and waiting for some new songs.
What is your all time favorite album?
Karre: Allman Bros. "Where it all begins"
Tobi: Van Halen I (surprise surprise)
Sasch: Nothing special depends on what mood Iīm in
Sven: Uh...I got so many records...I like īem all
2. (Sven) We want to keep the rock-culture in our part of the country upright. Thereīs so much synthie, charts and techno stuff here in germany that people donīt even recognize what a guitar sounds like. Music is such a wonderful thing but if itīs used to control common taste itīs worthless.
3. (Sasch) Music comes from the heart and should go straight to the heart. I mean we want to build a world around you. If you forget your everyday problems for just a millisecond then itīs worth the effort.
Is there good support for independant artists in Germany?
In our part of the country: NO WAY! if you go to cologne or stuttgart (the cultural centres of germany) you got a better chance of succeeding but here at our place we donīt even find a rehearsal room without paying more than 200 bucks per month for it. Huge houses with more than ten rooms are deserted, but you canīt rent them īcause everybody wants to make big cash. For an independant artist without a big amount of money in his back, really no way
Why is there no song in German on the CD?
German is a language that doesnīt fit in a rock-song without sounding like a third-reich-broadcast (you know Rammstein?).We got really cool german rock bands, like "Die Sterne" but thatīs just not our thing. Besides, our singer managed to remove his german accent from his english voice, but if he had to sing german, he would have to remove his bavarian accent from his german voice :-)
Thanks for taking the time to talk to our readers any parting words?
First of all we want to say thanks to you, Claude, for the opportunity of having an interview with your eZine, itīs really fine that there are people like you!
For all the people out there on the internet : Big hugs! Stay clean and recognize you are alive!
