I got a special treat for blues fans everywhere!
The publisher of francsblues.com "BLUES NEWSLETTER"
Francis Skinner
Hi a welcome to the ezine, How's the world your way? It is a bright, sunny spring day here in Spalding, Lincolnshire, UK. We are looking forward to Spalding's famous Annual Flower Parade, the 44th. this Saturday 4th May. So, if you get the chance, get on down to Spalding this Bank Holiday weekend. When did you start your newsletter? I started the newsletter service a few years ago after I set up the Spalding Blues Club site as a favour to my local blues club. I started to receive newsletters from blues artists, bands, organisation etc. I wondered what to do with them! It then occurred to me that other blues fans like myself would be interested to read what is happening on the scene so I started publishing them. The number grew to the extent that a couple of years ago I started the second site francsblues.com and it expanded from there. What is the main philosophy behind your newsletter? The philosophy behind the newsletter service is firstly to keep fans informed what is happening on the scene, but even more so to contribute to 'Keepin' Blues Alive'. This is my small contribution as a fan to give something back to the artists/bands that have given us such wonderful entertainment over the years. The content is wide in both range and content, is there any aspect of blues you don't cover? If it is blues related, it goes in, it is as simple as that. I will publish information from the Artist on the street to someone as famous as 'BB' himself. It is a world-wide service open to all. What would you like to cover more if you had a chance? I guess I would like to hear from more new and up and coming artists/bands, help to give them the exposure that they need and the encouragement that they deserve. The more news I receive from everywhere the happier I am. Blues is alive an Kickin' all over the world. It started by comin' up from the Delta to Chicago, spread to other cities, then world-wide. Hey! what am I spoutin' all this for? I guess I am already preachin' to the converted. Let's talk about you, when did you first discover your fascination for the Blues? I first wet my appetite for Blues in the early 1960's when such artists as Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Sleepy John Estes visited the UK and appeared on two television specials. From then on I was hooked. A baptism of fire you might say! Are you a musician yourself? The instrument that always held my fascination is an electric organ, in my working life I never found the time to learn how to play one. Now I am early retired, I have been taking lessons for about two years now, not very good as yet, but keeping the lessons up, so, watch this space, in a few years, maybe! You also do reviews, what are the requirements for an artists to be reviewed? For a 'Delta Dawn' review, all an artist has to do is send me a CD and their promo info, I will take it from there. My contact information is on-site at francsblues.com Thank you for participating, Any famous last words in closing?
Thank you for the opportunity to explain some of what I get up to blueswise.
