K.L.O.D. Interview entrevue!

Red Moon Rising

Well here I go again introducing another German band:-)I swear i'm not looking for German band they just happen to live there.

As always I choose bands that are interesting and with a sound to match and Red Moon Rising of Hamburg sure qualify in that department.

Hi and welcome to the ezine how are you?

Fine, thx! Having a blast!

Please introduce the members of RMR?

Right now, its only myself, and my buddy Boris, with whom I began this project. I have a keyboard player and a GREAT blues guitarist I am working in the studio with at this time, and hopefully I'll be out for some shows soon.

How old is RMR?

RMR began in 1999, in Caifornia, actually. Boris, myself, and two other guys (on bass and drums) did several shows around San Francisco bay area. We called ourselves PRIMAL, and we rocked everywhere we went! After about a year, I took what I had written for the band, went into the studio with Boris, and recorded songs which eventually became known under the name RED MOON RISING.

Your sound is so original people compare you to almost everyone in the rock world. How would you describe it?

Guitar rock, really. Sure, I use keyboards, organ and piano, much like Rainbow and Deep Purple. And I like melodies: not just heavy-pounding guitars. But if I had to describe it, I'd have to say guitar rock.

What themes do you favor for your lyrics?

Experiences, personal experiences. Mostly about women I've encountered in some way, shape or form, but I try and stay away from the silly, "80s" themes. Currently I am writing about issues like following what one believes in, and not letting ANYONE else try and control you.

Do you have a project you are working on at this time?

In fact I am in the studio recording this week! Some new material, with a few new people.

What is in your CD tray these days?

Believe it or not, Meat Loaf, Peter Frampton, and Queen! I love the older rock, as well as new bands.

When not doing music what excites your passion?

I'm working on my degree in psychology, so human behavior is one thing that VERY MUCH fascinates me, so much of my time is spent in this field.

On a more "romantic" side, I LOVE being in the company of women, even just talking with them makes me smile.

What is the most difficult part of creating?

The most difficult part of creating is the frustration one has in the beginning. I mean, you have the PERFECT idea in your mind, yet putting it on tape or playing it out the first time may sound good, or it may sound schrecklich!!

The frustration I have is taking raw ideas and shaping them into something that (at least I believe) is great, and its this part that makes sharing it with the world even sweeter.

If you could jam with anyone who would it be and why?

Ritchie Blackmore, although I am no where near a vocalist as Joe Lynn Turner or David Coverdale, it would be great (I think) to be able to jam and, more important, learn from him. I believe he lived in Hamburg in the 60s.

Someone else I'd like to meet and even jam with is Edward Van Halen. Despite the fact that he fired Sammy Hagar (VH's BEST vocalist in my opinion), it would be great to meet and even jam with him, even with just acoustic guitar. One other group of guys I'd love to meet would be the members of the Christian rock band STRYPER, albeit they did split up some years ago.

In your opinion what does the world need more of and less of?

Tolerance... more people need to understand and accept the fact that others are different, but its our variety that makes our world a POTENTIALLY beautiful place. Look at music: you've rock, blues, jazz, country, polka, rap, calipso, etc...

if music was ONLY one style, music would soon start to suck; one may not like certain forms, and thats ok, but its the variety of music that makes music in itself great, and I believe people as a whole are the same.

On the same token, the other side is we need less intolerance, which is a form of hate. Just because something is different does not mean its evil, bad, etc. I grew up the son of a minister and I saw subtle forms of intolerance throughout my youth. And, I believe ALL the evil, all the terrorism, all the negativity stems from one root: intolerance.

If one is tolerant of others, that one is less likely to abuse, take advantage of, hurt, or kill others. I can go on for days with this topic, but I think my idea is rather clear on this.

I want to thank you for participating in this zineterview.

Anytime! And thank you for inviting me here!

Any parting words for our readers?

Take care of each other; if more of us did this, we'd all have at least SOMEONE to help looking out for ourselves and you'll not be alone in this world. If you have a dream, SHARE IT... it will mean more if its not a secret.
