Today we receive a young artist "Unknown Component"
Welcome to the ezine how are you?
Very well thanks.
How and/or why did you pick the name "Unknown Component"?
Well to be honest with you it's pretty complicated. The name Unknown Component is more of a theory then anything else. In the age we live in the future holds many possiblities, one of which is Aritificial Intelligence. Now if you consider this fact you must also consider the consequences this and many other technologies will have on society. The "Unknown Component" is a pairing of these consequences with the idea that everything is somehow connected. Of course it's much more complex then that, and open to interpretation.
You have some great tunes on your cd "Rewired Reasoning"
What instrument do you play?
Well, on this particular album I played guitar, bass guitar, piano, synthesizer, and programmed the drums and the effects.
You have such a great melodic mastery for being only 22,
when did you start composing?
I started writing songs when I was 15. Between the ages of 19 and 21 I stopped writing due to a sort of apathy for life in general. Then in 2002 I started writing again and since then I've found more and more ways to experiment in my writing style.
When was your cd released This is your second one I beleive?
Yes it is, the album was released in late May 2003.
You are located in Iowa, How is the indie scene there?
It's better then you would expect. The number of artists (be it painters, writers or musicians is encouraging), if not motivating to say the least.
Are you promoting any social causes?
I've always supported those causes which I've felt were in need of support. There are so many organizations out there today that are politically based and or biased.
What do you like to do when not being the musician?
Well.... when I'm not going to school or work or writing, I love to read.
Are you currently working on your next CD?
I am indeed.....always.
What is the hardest part of creating?
I don't think that any one part of creating is any more difficult then another. The most difficult thing is being satisfied enough to move on.
Well thanks for your time any last words for the readers?
Thanks to Claude Gagne and K.L.O.D Media.
