Robert Windley

We got a newcomer on the music scene, the mixmaster himself Robert Windley!A versatile musician from Central Virginia. You can hear some of his work on K.L.O.D Net Radio Hi and welcome to the ezine,

What is your greatest musical influence?

Paul Hardcastle had a lot of influence in my music. He has intergrated sensual and adventurous themes into his music. His versality is refreshing and motivating. My wife tells me that although I have some of his undertones, there is that special Robert Windley quality in all my tracks.

What is the theme for the upcoming CD "Dancer in the Rain"?

With Dancer in the Rain, I was pushing for some hard house tracks, but the final outcome turned out to be some very provocative and intricate tracks. Although, I kept the house tracks in, some very sensuous and majestic tracks evolved.

How long have you been sweating over it?

For about 6 months. I have been recording and remastering the tracks. Being a independent musician with a limited budget, things can be tight, but I still strive for professionalism and putting out a good product.

What is for you the hardest part of creating?

Sometimes I can go for days without a sound coming to me. Then suddenly there can be a avalanche of creatitivy. To me forcing the issue blocks things up. Ideas much flow freely from within. Take for instance, a tune that I recently came up with that is not on this latest CD, it is called Vietnam Shadows. It depicts a situation that I encountered while being in Vietnam in 1970. The tune came to me and then later the Title. Sometimes it can be reversed.

If you had one "message" to pass on what would it be?

NGU. This is our Theme for life. NEVER GIVE UP!! Whatever the situation may be that you are trying to achieve, the main key is to NEVER GIVE UP!!! That next try might be the road to success. I have learned this from being in the martial arts for 24 years, having risen to the rank of second degree black belt, to keep trying regardless of the barriors ahead. NGU

Tell us a bit about "RayRay & TT" and why the "doubling" in their name?:-)

They are the family pet dogs. RayRay"s name is short for Raymond and TT is short for Tiny Tot. He is kind of short, but man is he spunky. They roam freely and protect our home and surrounding land. I have learned a lot from looking at how they show love and devotion when treated with kindness and caring. RayRay is the oldest, but he took TT under his wing and they are a pair to be respected.

And what does Robert Windley does for fun besides music?

I like taking pictures. I took some great pictures of our last vacation at Virginia Beach. The scenery in the country is great!! I also have a small Vinyl and Leather Repair Service. I try to keep myself busy and productive. I still try to work out with a few moves in the marital arts. I can still do a forward roll even now at 52 even though I would be sore for two days afterwards.

I want to thank you for taking part in this interview:-) Any last word for the readers?

Just want to thank you for the Interview, but I want to thank God above all, because without him I could do nothing. Thanks also to my wife for buying the headphones. (Just joking) But if you are feeling down and you want a quick uplift, check out my CD and let the energy revive you. NGU
