Mark Austin Band "Cosmic Trigger" CD Review What can i tell you about the Mark Austin Band CD "Cosmic Trigger"? For one the band is based in Texas that was the easy part:-) talking about his music is a whole different matter... Yes there are jazz elements there, but saying that alone would not befit nor truly describe the music. It is everything! That's an over simplification...And does not accurately describe it. Each tune on the cd and sometime within a tune you feel various influences and just when you thought you got it pegged something new surfaces. Acid jazz, funk jazz, rock jazz, blues jazz you name it! But the beauty of it is, in that all those elements are weaved expertly to create hauntingly interesting music, that is deserving of the term original. To quote the promo material "Thought provoking lyrics, mind altering guitar, mantra like bass line. Transcendant horns a clairvoyant drum beat and astral percussion" I admit when i read that, i was skeptical(to say the least) however upon listening to the cd i discovered that is a very good description. You will find as they gain popularity that so called critics will become tongue tied trying to fathom the essence of the Mark Austin Band. Should make for some interesting reading never the less...
Mark Austin is on Bass and vocals You know what? I found the perfect way to describe them!!! You listen to it, you make up your own mind, because what you will feel is the best review one can make...
